Note from the Artist
Throughout my life I've always had a general feeling of inadequacy, a kind of imposter syndrome scratching away at the things I do. As a composer of electronic and ambient music, something which already lends itself to isolation, trying to find my own niche in an oversaturated genre and community can often be incredibly frustrating, and yet I love creating music and sending it out into the world.
Where a lot of my early ambient work has lent itself to darker themes, recently in my Vine EP and with this track, I’ve been playing with, and examining the notion of, that glimmer of hope a simple major chord can add to a piece, a kind of optimism, something to look forward to. ‘Inadequacy’ explores the themes of fear and hope, being overwhelmed by circumstance and awed by the fragile beauties that surround us.
